Mohammed pulled up to Christy’s house in his black Toyota Sedan.

“Goodbye Mr. Mohammed.” Christy said.

“Have a good day my dear, tell your mother I said hello.” Mohammed said.

Christy nodded her head, she then turned towards Jason.

“Bye bae.” She said.

Jason didn’t respond, he twisted his lip and stared at her. Christy didn’t say nothing after that, she stepped out of the vehicle and closed the door behind her.

“Wait!” Jason screamed out.

He then opened the door and stepped out of the car, without closing the door. He ran to his wife and held her hand in his and gazed deep into her eyes without saying anything. He then reached in with his head and locked lips with Christy. He kissed for about three minutes. He then drew his head back and turned it towards Mohammed. Then he turned his head back to Christy and looked deep into her eyes.

“I’m not ashamed of you!” He said loudly.

He continued to stare at Christy as she stared back with starry eyes.

“Baby…” She said softly.

Jason put his index finger on her lips.

“Shhhh… I don’t want you to talk okay. I want you to know something.”

“We gon’ be together forever, Wallahi!” He said.

“I chose you to be my wife not to hide you from the world or from anybody, you’re the most beautiful girl in the world and I’m so proud of you. I love you.”

Tears began falling down Christy’s cheek. She wanted to respond to Christy and say “I love you too” but there was a frog in her throat. When Jason saw that Christy was trying to open her mouth and say something he reached in with his head and buried his tongue in her mouth. They both closed their eyes as they stood there and kissed. After about two minutes Jason drew his head back. Christy’s eyes were still closed and her lips were still puckered. Jason reached with his hand and rubbed her cheek one final time, then he turned around and walked slowly to the car. Christy stood there, her eyes were still closed and her lips were still puckered.

While in the car Mohammed didn’t say anything to Jason, and Jason said nothing to him. They were both quiet as Mohammed drove home. Jason stared out the window the entire ride. He was still seated in the backseat. His hand was placed where Christy was seated. He could still feel her warmth.

“MY BABY!” Lisa bellowed out as soon as Jason opened the door and walked in the house. She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him. Jason hugged back.

“It’s so good to have you home finally!” She said as she squeezed his cheek and held him.

Cecilia ran up to Jason and hugged him also. Jason smiled and patted her on the head. She still had her hair braided from last time when Christy was over last time.

“Come sit down baby.” Lisa said as she held Jason’s hand and directed him to the brown couch in the middle of the living room.

Jason sat at the center of the couch, while Lisa sat on the left hand side and Cecilia on the right hand side. Lisa reached in with her hand and rubbed Jason’s head.

“Did you eat?” She asked.

“No. But I’m not hungry.”

“What did the doctor say?” Cecilia asked.

“He said I only got three days left to live.” Jason said with a smile.

“That’s not funny!” Cecilia said.

“She’s right Jason, don’t make jokes like that. Alhamdulillah you’re okay.” Lisa said.

My mother… she’s gotten so used to my father that she even mimics the way he talks. She says that she is Muslim, but she goes to Church every Sunday. Then when Ramadan comes around she fasts, or at least she tries. Last year during Ramadan she only fasted about five days for the entire 30-day period.

“Do you want me to cook something for you?” Lisa asked him while rubbing his face.

“No, mom I’m okay. I think I’m just gonna lay down.” She said.

“You sure?”

Jason nodded his head then he got up from the couch and started to climb up the stairs.

“Come downstairs if you change your mind okay!” Lisa yelled to Jason as he went up the stairs. Jason held out two fingers and nodded his head. He then went in his room and closed the door behind him. He fell on top of his bed without taking off his clothes. He was still stimulated and thought about calling Christy, but then he chose not to, another thing was on his mind. John then appeared and began hovering above the bed. He looked at Jason without smiling, he had a straight face on. Jason didn’t look back at him. He knew that he was there but he didn’t care.

“I know you sober bruh!” John said to Jason.

“Shut up.” Jason said.

“Call up Joe and get some gas.” John said.

“Don’t tell me what to do.”

John smiled and then he vanished. When Jason was sure that he was gone he pulled out his phone from his pocket and scrolled down his call log and went to Joe’s number. He dialed it and the phone rang a few times.

“Where you at bruh?” He said to Joe over the phone when he picked up.

“I’m around. Wassup?”

“I need some.”

“How many?” Joe asked.

“Just one. I just came out the spital’, I’m hella sobey!”

Joe laughed. “Where you at?”

Jason went to the train track and sat on the brown bench. He pulled out the marijuana from his pocket and began to roll. John appeared, he was not hovering but sitting on the bench next to Jason.

“Spark that jawn up!” He said while smiling.

Jason turned his head to look at him. “Bruh!”

“Didn’t I tell you not to tell me what to do?” He said.

Jason then turned his head back and finished rolling. He pulled out his lighter from his pocket and lit the blunt slowly. He lifted it up to his mouth and took a drag.

“COUGH-COUGH!” Jason balled up his fist and put it up to his mouth as he coughed.

“You bouta die!” John said.

Jason continued to cough. He then took another hit. It filled up his head and immediately his head began to spin and he was high.

He turned his head to look at the miniature figure that was seated on the bench.

“Why you look like that?” He said.

“Like what?” John asked.

“Why you so ugly bruh?” Jason asked.

John didn’t respond, he only smiled and began to laugh.

“Pass that!” John said.

Jason reached with his hand and passed John the blunt. He took a quick hit, but he did not cough. He took another hit then he passed Jason the blunt again. He reached over to grab the blunt with his hand but it dropped and fell on the floor.

“Don’t fumble bro!” John said.

Jason laughed as he reached down and picked up the blunt from the ground. It was hard for him to pick it up because of his uncontrollable laughter. He finally picked it up and lifted it up to his mouth. He took a slow hit. He let the smoke fill up his lungs and did not cough.

“I’m high!” He said.

Jason then turned his head to look at John, but the miniature figure was not there. Jason then realized he was by himself, he turned his head back to the center and took another hit of the blunt. Then he began to laugh again.

“Wassup with you bro?” John said.

Jason turned his head and looked at the bench where John was seated. Nobody was there. He turned his head side to side quickly.

“WHO SAID THAT?” He said.
